The iShares MSCI EAFE Growth Index Fund (Ticker: EFG) seeks investment results that correspond generally to the performance, before fees and expenses, of the MSCI EAFE Growth Index. The index is a subset of the MSCI EAFE index (ETF Ticker: EFA) and consists of those securities classified by MSCI as most representing the value style, generally representing about 50% of the free float-adjusted market capitalization of the MSCI EAFE index. MSCI uses a specialized framework to attribute growth & value style characteristics to each security with the MSCI EAFE index. Each security is evaluated based on certain growth & value factors, which are then used to calculate a score. Based upon the score, MSCI determines the extent to which each security is assigned to the value or growth style. It is possible for a single security to have representation in both indexes, however, no more than 100% of a security's float-adjusted market capitalization will be included within the combined style framework. The index comprises 21 MSCI country indices, representing the developed
markets outside of North America: Europe, Australasia and the Far East. It is a market capitalization weighted index that aims to capture 85% of the (publicly available) total market capitalization. Component companies are adjusted for available float and must meet objective criteria for inclusion to the index, taking into consideration unavailable strategic shareholdings and limitations to foreign ownership. The index is reviewed quarterly. The index uses the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS).
