The PowerShares Global Nuclear Energy Portfolio Fund (Ticker: PKN) seeks investment results that correspond generally to the performance, before fees and expenses, of the WNA Nuclear Energy Index. The index is designed to track the overall performance of globally traded companies which are engaged in the nuclear energy industry with representation across five main business segments: The WNAI employs a hybrid weighting methodology. The WNAI is divided into five tranches representing each of the five business segments: 1) Primary construction, represents 15% of WNAs total weight 2) Reactors, represents 15% of WNAs total weight 3) Nuclear power generation, represents 25% of WNAs total weight 4) Technology, equipment and service providers, represents 25% of WNAs total weight 5) Fuels, represents 20% of WNAs total weight.
Each stock’s relative weighting in the WNAI is determined based upon the tranche of the WNAI to which the index is assigned. Certain companies may be included in more than one tranche, depending on their level of activity in their respective tranches. Each tranche employs a separate weighting process. Primary construction and reactors are equal weighted. The remaining three tranches are market cap weighted with a cap of 3%.
The index is rebalanced quarterly.
