The PowerShares Global Wind Energy Portfolio (Ticker: PWND) seeks investment results that correspond generally to the performance, before fees and expenses, of the NASDAQ OMX Clean Edge Global Wind Energy Index. The index is a modified market-capitalization index designed to act as a transparent and liquid benchmark for the global wind energy sector includes companies that are primarily manufacturers, developers, distributors, installers, and users of energy derived from wind sources. Clean Edge divides the components of the index into two categories; Pure Play Securities (90%) and Multinational Corporation Securities (10%). To determine which category a company is in, Clean Edge applies proprietary screens to each eligible component. Main country holdings include: Spain, Germany, Denmark, United States, etc. The index is reconstituted semi-annually and rebalanced.
