Strong Demand For ETFs Persists
June 24, 2006
SAN DIEGO - (ETFguide.com) - ETFs continue to be on fire. 39 new Exchange Traded Vehicles (ETVs = ETFs and/or ETNs) were issued in April. 27 new ETVs hit the market in May.
Northern Trust is pushing into the market of single country ETFs which thus far has been dominated by Barclays Global. Northern Trust has launched eight new NETS in May (following six in April).
The first ETFs of ETFs have also appeared on the scene. Who else but PowerShares would launch such a product? Of course the ETFs largely contain PowerShares ETFs. The total management fee consists of the ETF component's management fee on top of 0.25% charged for the "ETF wrapper". I.e. PAO and PTOs largest holding is PowerShares Dynamic Developed Opportunies (Ticker: PFA) with an expense ratio of 0.75%. Within PAO or PTO the total management fee is 1.00%.
