ETF Assets Grow by $18.97 Billion

SAN DIEGO (ETFguide.com) - According to the Investment Company Institute (ICI), the combined assets of U.S. exchange-traded funds (ETFs) grew $18.97 billion to $485.51 billion in May.

This is a 4.1 percent increase compared to April and growth of 44.8 percent or $150.27 billion compared to the year-over-year numbers. In May 2006, ETF assets were $335.24 billion.

During May, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $5.44 billion. So far this year, ETFs have experienced a net issuance of $26.44 billion.

The Investment Company Institute (ICI) is a national association of U.S. registered investment companies.
