ETF Assets up by $11.8 billion

SAN DIEGO (ETFguide.com) - According to the Investment Company Institute (ICI), the combined assets of
U.S. exchange-traded funds (ETFs) rose $11.8 billion to $571.11 billion in March.
This is a 2.1% increase compared to February and an increase of 28.6% or $126.85 billion compared to March 2007, when ETF assets were at $444.26 billion.
During March, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $20.21 billion.
ETFs are low cost index funds that trade like stocks.
Today, there are more than 750 ETFs tracking markets from domestic and international stocks, to bonds, commodities, currencies and real estate.
The ICI is a national association of
U.S. registered investment companies.
