First Trust Adds 13 New AlphaDEX Funds to the Family

SAN DIEGO (ETFguide.com) - First Trust Advisors announced last Tuesday that they have added thirteen new Funds to their AlphaDEX lineup. The ETFs within the AlphaDEX fund family track the performance of a group of custom enhanced indexes with a proprietary rules-based fundamental selection method. Nine new international funds began trading April 19th on the NYSE Arca, being the first international funds of First Trust to carry the AlphaDEX title. The following day, four domestic AlphaDEX funds also began trading on the NYSE Arca.

“We are excited to add these thirteen new funds to the AlphaDEX family of ETFs, nearly doubling the existing line-up,” said Dan Waldron, Senior Vice President and ETF Strategist of First Trust. “The AlphaDEX funds are designed to do what their name implies: generate Alpha, and we are pleased with their track record.” Waldron also commented that the nine international ETFs that have been added to the AlphaDEX lineup are designed to benefit investors who are looking for a globally diversified investment portfolio.

Unlike many of its market capitalization weighted peers, the new AlphaDEX family uses an equal weighted approach with a relatively simple methodology. First Trusts’ AlphaDEX product lineup now consists of 29 exchange-traded funds.
